Three Question: Is Google Making Us Stupid

1)     Nicholas Carr mentions that his concentration is getting distracted after he reads more than two pages in the web. Is really Google’s fault? Does Google have more negative effects than its benefits?

2)     Refer to Nicholas Carr’s ‘Is Google Making Us Stupid’, the scientific breakthrough such as internet makes us to study only superficial knowledge and artificial intelligence. Is it true? Then, are we getting stupid these days as continuous scientific development such as, Smartphone?

3)     Do we need to stop using Google? If we should, what is the solution that people can replace Google then?

In his essay, he refers not only negative effects of Google, but also its benefits. However, he asserts that conveniences by scientific breakthroughs let people to study superficial knowledge and artificial intelligence. Internet made people not to have deep reading when they read information such as, articles and news, and he is asking people to agree with him to make his opinions strengthen. Someone might agree with him that getting distracted their concentration when they read something in the web and not to have deep reading than when they used to read through hard copied book or paper. Does convenience really matter to people have less concentration? Hard copied book is also made to share ideas and information for as many people could share together. Internet has same sense of purpose. Thanks to Internet, people could share great amount of information and their thought very easily than before. It is true that people might get distracted by excessive information in the web because there are many unnecessary information only to have people’s attention such as advertising. It is a drop in the ocean compare to the benefit of Internet. People can get more information that they like to know through Internet. It was supposed to have more efforts to gather the information to know without Internet. If people cannot have deep reading than before, it is might because of their faults; they might have no desire to read it. Of course, there are people who like to read something by hard copies such as, book and newspaper. And if there are people who like to study about something, they might be very thankful towards existence of Internet because it is very quick and precise. People who think that Internet treats only superficial knowledge and artificial intelligence might be used to conveniences of internet and spend not enough time on search information they like to know.
